Auburn Housing Authority Resident Services and Ivory Davis from East Alabama Mental Health hosted a Christmas Event for the East Park Community on December 9th . The residents were given refreshments and created Christmas tree ornaments and bracelets.

On July 17, 2019, the Auburn Housing Authority hosted a tour of the Job Core in Montgomery, AL.

The Auburn Housing Authority participated in the Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 18, 2022. The event was held at Martin Luther King Park in Auburn, AL. The event included great food and fellowship, historical presentations, and entertainment. The event also included recognizing Unsung Heroes, which included one of AHA's own, AJ Harris, Public Relations and Compliance Director.

Lee County Literacy Coalition (LCLC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing adult literacy programs at no cost to the community. LCLC offers one-to-one tutoring, Family Literacy, ESL Book Club, Financial Literacy workshops, Digital & Workplace Literacy workshops, Health literacy workshops, and much more. Austin Pearson of LCLC gave a presentation to the AHA Team on the importance of identifying literacy needs and tips for dealing with literacy needs. LCLC provided AHA with a Pop-Up Library stationed in the Ridgecrest Admin Office. The Pop-Up Library is stocked with books for all ages. The books are free and can be kept or returned. LaFayette Housing Authority (LHA) recently hosted a graduation reception for our LaFayette High School seniors. The event celebrated the academic achievements of students residing in LHA-managed properties, highlighting their hard work and dedication. Families, friends, and community members gathered to honor the graduates, who were presented with certificates. We congratulate the graduates and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. To assist families during the Christmas holidays, LHA partnered with the Food Bank to sponsor an onsite Farmer's Market on December 21st that provided fresh produce to 63 families.

Latoya Jackson, renowned speaker and advocate for personal development, captivated our residents with an enlightening discourse on the importance of crafting lifealtering goals in conjunction with an accountability partner. Her message resonated deeply, inspiring all in attendance to embrace the power of collaboration and accountability as catalysts for transformative success.

National Night Out hosted by Auburn Public Safety was a wonderful opportunity for residents to come together, build stronger relationships with local law enforcement and foster a true sense of community.

The Auburn Police Division (APD) and the Auburn Housing Authority hosted its annual National Night Out (NNO) event on Thursday, October 10th. The event was held at the Ridgecrest community. Over twenty organizations were present to offer information about their resources. The event also included door prizes, food and entertainment.

This week, our agencies partnered with East Alabama Medical Center to host multiple Pfizer vaccination clinics for our staff, residents, and anyone age 16+ in the local community! We're happy to help get this pandemic behind us!

On December 18, RHA hosted its Senior Citizen Christmas Luncheon. Residents, dressed in their finest holiday attire, Lunch was catered by Subway and included a special treat for attendees to enjoy.

Roanoke Housing Authority (RHA) hosted a Tailgate Event to celebrate the Handley High School Football Season. The RHA Tailgate included games, food, and snacks. We thank all the residents and community that came out to celebrate with us. We want to thank RHA Commissioner Sarah Nunn, RHA Commissioner Scot Thomason, RHA Board Chairperson Paula Lambert, Roanoke Police Chief Jonathan Caldwell and Lieutenant Mark Farmer, and Roanoke City Councilwoman Tammi Holley for attending. Auburn Housing Authority Resident Services and the Auburn Smart Bank hosted a Christmas Event for the Ridgecrest Community on December 7th . Over 50 residents attended the event as they celebrated with refreshments and color sheets.

We had a great time at our Senior Citizen's Holiday Luncheon. Our residents and staff enjoyed delicious food and great conversation!

Sparkman Community youth participated in an outdoor movie night in October, courtesy of the Lee County Democratic Club. Youth played games and brought their blankets to watch Jumanji: The Next Level on the big outdoor screen.

Freedom in Christ hosted Vacation Bible School at the LaFayette Housing Authority’s Jenkins site in July 2019.

AHA Residents were given the opportunity to register to vote, request an absentee ballot, pick up a sample ballot, and receive other voter information at AHA community sites in advance of the November election.

The What Home Means to Me poster contest is an annual competition that recognizes the art of children who live in affordable housing. The contest has been held since 2008 by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) in collaboration with its local, state, and regional chapters. The contest's goal is to highlight the importance of the work done by community development professionals and housers.
